Novgorod

"To oppose everything while proposing nothing is irresponsible," said President Bush, as quoted in a recent address in response to mass disapproval for the President's latest Iraq plan.

To his credit, he is right. Still, doesn't the recent language coming from both sides of the aisle sound like 5 year olds arguing?

It's time for Congress revert to the Novgorod model. At any impasse, the town assembly would just go out to the bridge over the river (in the middle of the winter, mind you) and start chucking each other off of the edge. Last man standing wins.

While I'd rather our leaders engage in fruitful debate, I think we might get more done at this point if this is what the debate sounds like...

Ok, maybe it wouldn't. But it would be really funny. C-SPAN ratings would go through the roof.
